What We Like About the Service

Those seeking to host an au pair in their home may have slightly different priorities than the typical family seeking nanny care. Au pairs are of foreign origin, and come to the US to improve English skills, take college classes, and experience American culture. Au pairs are wonderful if a family is interested in facilitating this experience, while taking advantage of up to 45 hours per week of childcare services.
AuPairCare.com carefully screens their au pairs, and once they are selected, they attend an “Au Pair Academy” in New York City. This academy ensures each au pair is educated in basic childcare, CPR/First Aid, and the basics of American culture.
AuPairCare.com does their best to place au pairs that will fit your timing, your lifestyle, and your budget. They place au pairs specialized in infant care, 2nd year au pairs, and male au pairs as well. Because of the nature of the AuPairCare.com service, there is about a month’s delay between match date and US arrival. This is due to visa and training issues, as well as other logistical concerns. For those seeking an au pair, there is simply more lead-time involved. In addition, most au pairs stay for a year’s duration, which means long-term, your child would have several caregivers if you stay with AuPairCare.com.

We give AuPairCare.com our #9 rating, with an asterisk. This service appears excellent, and a unique opportunity to expose children to another language and cultural heritage. Some may balk at the prospect of such short duration of care, but if that isn’t an issue for you, AuPairCare.com is an excellent substitute for traditional nanny care (and likely cheaper, too).
