| Why is Sittercity our #1 rated online babysitting matchmaking service? They’re the original, the largest (over 2 million care provider profiles), and they’ve really perfected the matchmaking service and the entire experience. They make finding the perfect sitter, not only easy, but enjoyable.Founded in 2001 by a Boston College student who saw how the Internet could bring parents and caregivers together, Sittercity.com created the concept of the babysitter matchmaking business. And now, for the past 10 years, they’ve been perfecting it.While Sittercity supports a wide range of care givers, babysitters are their core and what draws most members. In addition to a robust search function, Sittercity has a very extensive job posting capability that lets you precisely specify what you’re looking for in a sitter including age, availability, experience, certifications, special skills, languages, education, and more. You won’t have to waste your time wading through profiles of candidates who don’t match your needs.Sittercity has extensive features and tools that really make the service hard to beat. Rate Calculator. Ability to purchase background checks and resources for safe hiring practices. Sitter reviews by parents. Refer A Friend Program. Corporate Program. A partnership with the Department of Defense which 100% funds membership for all service members. And extensive resources for finding, hiring and managing your sitter. While all the elements of Sittercity are impressive, what makes them our #1 choice is how they pull it all together. We found it the easiest, most intuitive, and most feature-rich service of any online babysitting registry. | Screen Shots(click to enlarge image)![]() See More >> |

| Care.com is a quality service and a very worthy competitor to Sittercity.com. They’ve been around since 2007 and, like Sittercity, have worked hard to create a service and a website experience that is top notch.Care.com provides a full range of care providers – child care, pet care, elder care, tutoring, and house care, with babysitters and nannies making up the largest portion. Quite a few features and tools are offered including: sitter reviews by parents, a 15% discount for military families, a corporate program, Care-On-Call (for last minute needs), Care Exchange (parents exchanging services), and more.Safety is a focus for Care.com and one area where they have raised the bar is with the inclusion of free unlimited“standard” background check requests for all paying members. An expanded background check can be purchased for $59. In comparison, Sittercity offers background checks for $9.99 each.Care.com is a quality service that we highly recommend, especially with their free background check feature which sets them apart in this area. We’ve given the #1 rating and overall nod to Sittercity.com because we feel that they’ve taken the service and the user experience to a bit higher level, which makes it a more effective service. But Care.com is a very worthy competitor | Screen Shots(click to enlarge image)![]() See More >> |

| Care4Hire (and sister service Nannies4Hire) come from good pedigree. Both of these services were created by a full service nanny placement service that has been in business for over twenty years. They definitely know the child care provider matchmaking business.Where Care4Hire falls short, however, is in the usability of their website. It’s a bit clunky and confusing and we found ourselves frequently frustrated at how unintuitive it was. There is also a confusing co-mingling of care provider and care seeker features and information that had us being invited to purchase a background check on ourselves and have it posted even though we were registered as care seekers.Care4Hire definitely has the child care matchmaking knowledge and experience to create a top notch service. But we think they need to invest in creating a website that makes the match process more user friendly. | Screen Shots(click to enlarge image)![]() See More >> |
